An adventure for Outaouais youth
100km swim, 1000km bike, 650km run: Sur la ligne
In August 2025, three passionate athletes from the team Les Trois Sports (L3S) will take on the extraordinary sporting challenge of crossing Quebec by relay, from Gatineau to the Gaspé Peninsula. This multi-week journey will be marked by three demanding stages: a 100 km swim, a 1000 km bike ride and a 650 km run to the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. This sporting feat will be capture on film and turned into a documentary.
Beyond this sporting feat, Sur la ligne project has an important mission to support young people in the Outaouais region and offer them prospects for the future. By taking up this challenge, we hope to encourage perseverance, solidarity and team spirit among young people. We're convinced that every young person deserves access to enriching sports activities and an environment conducive to their development.
What is a youth center?
A youth center is much more than just a building. It's a place where young people can meet, have fun, learn and grow. These community organizations offer a safe, stimulating environment where everyone can find their place and develop their potential. Youth centers offer a multitude of activities, from creative workshops to cultural outings and sports, and encourage young people's autonomy and commitment.
Why are youth centers so important? Youth centers play a crucial role in the development of young people. They offer them a space where they can express themselves freely, explore their interests and develop their social and civic skills. These places are real springboards towards autonomy and social integration. Youth centers help young people to : Develop self-confidence and self-esteem. Acquire essential life skills (communication, problem-solving, teamwork). Get involved in their community and become active citizens. Prevent risky behavior and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Benjamin begins his journey in Gatineau with an extraordinary challenge: a 100 km swim in 4 days on the calm waters of the Ottawa River. Armed with his determination, he will link Gatineau to Carillon, pulling his kayak behind him. A physical and mental feat requiring meticulous preparation and a lot of endurance.
Setting off from Carillon, Annabelle gets on her bike for a 1000 km adventure along the St. Lawrence river. With a positive altitude difference of 3,000 meters, she'll need all her stamina to reach Matapedia in three days. She will meet this challenge by riding 12-hour days.
Pierrick plunges into the heart of the Gaspesian forest for a major challenge: to cover 650 km of the Grande Traversée de la Gaspésie (GRA1) while being self supported. With a positive vertical of 30,000 meters, this will be a challenge requiring exceptional physical condition and a great ability to adapt to changing natural conditions.
